Our Vision:
Ihsan Education (™) inspires ihsan - moral excellence- to empower Muslim communities to thrive in diverse contexts and contribute to the betterment of society.
We aim to support Muslim individuals, families, institutions and communities with applying the Quranic and Prophetic values of ihsan, in order to cultivate compassionate and resilient communities which prioritize the holistic well-being ("afiya") of its members.
Our Philosophy:
"Ihsan" comes from the Arabic root word "husn" which means beauty, and its literal meaning is “to do what is beautiful toward others”. It is usually translated into "Excellence" and entails demonstrating one's inner faith outwardly through a sense of social responsibility. Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “I have been sent to perfect good character.” (Source: al-Muwaṭṭa’ 1614.)
As such, Ihsan Education employs a moral-based framework that cultivates the growth of beautiful morals including compassion, equity, service leadership, and anti-oppression, which enable Muslim communities to understand the essence of their faith and thrive on a holistic level.
The outcome is individuals who are well rooted in the *correct* understanding of their faith and spiritual traditions and are therefore compassionate, collaborative, and can act as a catalyst for positive change and peace in our world.
We prioritize cultivating Quranic and Prophetic leadership, which focuses on the holistic well-being of Muslim individuals and communities.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is known to have often made this dua, as part of a longer dua: "O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in this world and in the Hereafter." (Sunan Ibn Majah 3871). And in another hadith: Al-‘Abbas reported: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, teach me something to ask Allah Almighty.” The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Ask Allah for wellness." I waited some days, then I came and said, “O Messenger of Allah, teach me something to ask Allah.” The Prophet said to me, "O 'Abbas, O Uncle of the Messenger of Allah, ask Allah for wellness in the world and in the hereafter" (Sunan al-Tirmidhī 3514).
